My Daily Power-Up

What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Oh, I love this question! 💖 It’s so easy to get caught up in the big picture of goals and ambitions that we forget the magic is often in the small, daily choices we make. For me, as an academician who spends so much time reading, writing, and blogging, I’ve found that my most powerful tools for a balanced life are my daily habits.

Every morning, I kick things off with a little bit of movement. It’s usually a short yoga flow 🧘‍♀️—just enough to wake up my body and calm my mind before I dive into a day of intellectual hustle. Later in the day, after a deep work session, I love to grab my badminton racket and head to the court for a bit. 🏸 It’s my favorite way to clear my head and get some energy flowing. And of course, I make sure to step away from my books and laptop to spend quality time with the people who matter most. I might not always be able to see my family and friends in person during the week, but a daily chat or a video call keeps those connections strong. These little moments of laughter and connection truly fuel my soul.

These habits—a little bit of mindfulness, a quick dose of physical activity, and a daily touchpoint with loved ones—are my non-negotiables. They’re what keep me grounded and energized, so that I can tackle my academic work and my blog with passion and purpose. I’ve learned that a “healthy hustle” isn’t about being productive every single second; it’s about being intentional with the time you have, creating a life that feels full and joyful, both on and off the page. ✨
